Weekend retreats
at Kiah Ridge
Dear Friends of Teapot Ministries,
The end of 2011 is looming with only weeks till Christmas and we are excited
about the happenings in Teapot Ministries this year.
Our ‘Join us on Fridays’ group has just celebrated its 1st Birthday and the
group now comprises of around 20 women who sew, share ideas, have
morning tea and lunch, build each other up and generally encourage each
other in life. The ‘Carlingford Cupcakes’ are putting the finishing touches to
the sampler quilt they have been learning to make this year and the other
groups like the ‘Kendal Kettles’, ‘Sugar Fixes’ and ‘Time Outs’ have had a great
year of sewing and sharing together and are now also looking for finish off
their 2011 projects.
In March we started our ‘On the Road with Teapot’ group in Canberra called
the ‘Sew Addictives’. These girls are also learningpatchwork and quilting
techniques by making a sampler quilt. They come together for a weekend of
sewing every two months. Our committee member, Tanya, has travelled to Canberra to teach this group and we
value her commitment to this part of Teapot Ministries. We had a wonderful sharing with these ladies at our Retreats
in July and August.
The Retreats were a time of blessing and creativity with 75 women attending over the two weekends. We sewed
many projects, finished lots of ‘UFOs’ and talked about finding ‘Peace ‘n Time’ in our lives.
The Bus trip to the Central coast in June was a lot of fun. We visited Patchwork 33 - a great place for a weekend
sewing Retreat, Blueberries Patchwork shop in Wyong and Pieces to Treasure at MacMasters Beach. Lunch at Ken
Duncan Galleries offered delicious food change of pace from the patchwork and quilting. All in all a good day was
have by all who attended.
Now, as we approach the end of the year, we are excited about our Quilt show this weekend. We also look forward
to an exciting 2012 with the commencement of our new Theatre group, new sewing groups and all the other activities
organised by Teapot Ministries.
We with you and your families a very Blessed and Holy Christmas and look forward to connecting again with you in
2012.
Happy sewing
Robyn and the Teapot Ministry Committee
Thought for the day:
“May today there be peace within. May
you trust that you are exactly where you
are meant to be. May you not forget the
infinite possibilities that are born of faith
in yourself and others. May you use the
gifts that you have received, and pass on
the love that has been given to you. May
you be content with yourself just the way
you are. Let this knowledge settle into
your bones, and allow your soul the freedom
to sing, dance, praise and love. It is
there for each and every one of us."
Teatime Connect 2012
This is the 4th year of Teatime Connect and many have enjoyed the challenges we have given
you over this time. 2012 will be no different as we have a great mystery quilt for you to make.
The two parts of this mystery quilt is now available and will be posted when you join this
group.
If you are not a member and would like to join this online group contact us on our email address
teapotministries@hotmail.com
or check us out on our new blog address which is
www.teatimeconnect.blogspot.com.
It costs $20 a year to join, this covers the cost of stamps and paper for the quilt instructions.
Our yearly membership starts in July with our camps and runs for 12months.
The new blog address will offer a means for you to talk to others about the Mystery quilt project, contact the
team to answer any questions, post photos of the quilts you are working on and generally keep up to date with
what is happening at Teapot Ministries. We hope as this blog develops it will it will help you connect with other
women in this ministry.
Tanya Inder is the committee member who looks after this area of Teapot and if you require any further
information about Teatime Connect or wish to join please contact her on 0414991505.

10 Goods Reasons to buy Fabric
1. It helps keep the economy going. It is our
patriotic duty to support cotton farmers,
textile mills and quilt shops.
2. It is less expensive and more fun than
psychiatric care.
3. A sudden increase in the boll weevil might wipe
out the cotton crop in the next ten years.
4. I’m participating in a contest - the one who dies
with most fabric wins.
5. It keeps without refrigeration. You don’t have
to cook it to enjoy it, you never have to feed it,
change it, wipe its nose or walk it.
6. Like dust, it’s good for protecting previously
empty spaces in the house—like the ironing
board, the laundry hamper or the dining room
table.
7. When the big earthquake comes, all the quilt
shops might be swallowed into the ground and
never be seen again.
8. Stress from dealing with Fabric Control Office
(my husband) made me do it.
9. It is not immoral, illegal or fattening. It calms
the nerves, gratifies the soul and makes me feel
good.
10. Buy it now, before your husband retires and
goes with you on all your shopping expeditions.

On line Quilting Tutorials
My Quilt
My neighbour is washing her windows
And scrubbing and washing her floors......
But my home is all topsy turvy
And dust is behind all the doors.
My neighbour she keeps her house spotless
And she goes round all day at a trot
But no would know in a fortnight
If she swept it today or did not.
The Task I am at is enticing
My neighbour is worn to a rag,
I am making a quilt out of pieces
I have stowed in a pretty chintz bag.
And the quilt I know my descendants
Will display with great pride in their heart....
“So lovely - my grandmother made it
An example of patience and art.
But will her grandchildren remember
Her struggle with dirt and decay?
They will not.... They will wish that she had made them
A Quilt like I’m making today!
Anonymous.
Quilt Dedications
Every quilter should put a label on every quilt they
make. This is to document the quilt for future generations, so
they know who, when, where and why the quilt was made.
It is important to include information that is unique to your
and your quilt when documenting your quilt. For example:
Quilt Name; Quilt Pattern;
Quilt Size;
Block size; Who pieced the top
Whether or not the quilt was hand or machined pieced
and/ or quilted, and how it should be washed;
Date Started and date finished;
Any special information you would like to put about the quilt like
who it was made for and why.
You may like to add a quilt saying or two and here are some
suggestions:
Those who sleep under a quilt, sleep under a blanket of love.
Quilters affect eternity- they can never tell where their
influence stops.
She who dies with the most fabric wasted a lot of time!
I love sewing and have plenty of material witnesses.
From my hands....to your heart
Families are like quilts, stitched together
one piece at a time.
Do you wish you had more time to go to classes?
Would you like personal tutoring in specific projects?
There are lots of websites you can access and Youtube
is full of videos that have been uploaded for your use – some wonderful and
professional, and some quite amateurish!!
The best I have found have been at Missouri Star Quilt Company. The website
address for their tutorials is:
two wonderful programs which have a small cost. You can work through the
program at your own pace and, once you have paid and signed up, you can
access any time and as often as you like.
They also have lots of free tutorials!
Once you check these out, I guarantee that you will be ITCHING to
start a new project!!
